Wrexham have stepped up their pursuit of Leicester City defender Harry Souttar, with talks now under way over a potential move as the Championship club look to strengthen their back line before the transfer window closes.

Souttar, 27, remains under contract at Leicester and has featured for the club this season, meaning any deal would require Wrexham to negotiate for a player who is still part of the first-team picture rather than one considered surplus to requirements.

That dynamic could prove significant. Sheffield United have already explored a deal for Souttar, creating competition for a centre-back whose Championship experience and aerial profile would offer an immediate upgrade to clubs looking for greater defensive authority.
