Kompany says Bayern’s Supercup win proves hunger remains unchanged

Vincent Kompany believes Bayern Munich’s Supercup victory over Borussia Dortmund showed that his side have maintained their hunger despite winning domestic honours last season.

Bayern opened the 2026/27 campaign with a 2-1 win at Signal Iduna Park, securing the first trophy of the German season while integrating several new faces into the squad.

For Kompany, the significance of the result went beyond lifting another piece of silverware. The Bayern coach highlighted the mentality required to begin a new campaign with the same intensity after a successful previous season.

“We didn’t want to start the season thinking about what we achieved last year,” Kompany said. “We wanted to show the same hunger again.”
