Tottenham agree permanent deal for Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Tosin Adarabioyo on a permanent transfer, with the centre-back cleared to undergo a medical ahead of the deadline.

David Ornstein reports that the two clubs have agreed the deal, with personal terms already completed and Chelsea granting permission for the 28-year-old to proceed with medical checks.

Fabrizio Romano has separately reported that Chelsea will receive a fixed fee of £7 million plus add-ons. Neither club has formally announced the transfer, meaning the move remains subject to the final medical and administrative stages.

Adarabioyo joined Chelsea as a free agent from Fulham in July 2024, signing a four-year contract that runs until 2028. The former Manchester City academy defender brought significant Premier League experience to Stamford Bridge after four seasons at Fulham and has since been part of Chelsea sides that won the Conference League and Club World Cup.

Tottenham’s move comes as the club reshapes its centre-back options late in the window. Kevin Danso has been working towards a move to Sunderland, with that deal initially dependent on Spurs securing a replacement before allowing the Austria international to leave.

Adarabioyo now appears set to fill that vacancy. His arrival would give Tottenham another experienced, physically imposing centre-back while allowing Chelsea to generate a fee for a player they signed without a transfer payment two years ago.

The agreement is advanced but not yet official. Tottenham have secured both club and player terms and Adarabioyo has permission to undergo his medical, but completion still requires the remaining formalities before the transfer can be announced.
