Swansea City sign Stephen Eustáquio from Porto on two-year deal

Swansea City have completed the signing of Stephen Eustáquio from Porto, adding an experienced international midfielder as they continue strengthening for a Championship promotion push.

The Canada international has signed a two-year contract running until 2028, with Swansea holding an option for a further season. The transfer is permanent, although Swansea have not disclosed the fee.

Eustáquio arrives with substantial top-level experience. The 29-year-old made more than 150 appearances for Porto across domestic and European competition and was part of a side accustomed to competing for major honours in Portugal.

That background gives Swansea something different in midfield. Rather than adding another developmental profile, they have recruited a player used to controlling games under pressure, managing possession and operating in high-intensity European environments.

His international experience adds another layer. Eustáquio has been a central figure for Canada and featured prominently during the 2026 World Cup cycle, bringing leadership and tactical maturity to a Swansea squad trying to build greater consistency over a long Championship season.

The move also has a clear coaching connection. Swansea head coach Vítor Matos is familiar with Eustáquio’s qualities from Portuguese football and has prioritised greater control and experience in central areas.
