Stoke City sign Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace on four-year deal

Stoke City have completed the permanent signing of Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace, with the Northern Ireland international agreeing a four-year contract.

Both clubs have confirmed the transfer following a deadline-day move that was submitted in time through the deal-sheet process before being formally announced on Wednesday.

Stoke have not disclosed the transfer fee. Belfast Telegraph reports that the Championship club have paid around £5 million for the 22-year-old midfielder.

Devenny leaves Crystal Palace after three years in south London. He joined the club from Airdrieonians in 2023 and initially entered the Under-21 setup before establishing himself around the senior squad.

He went on to make 60 first-team appearances for Palace, scoring four goals. His Premier League breakthrough came during the 2024/25 season, when he made his first league start against Fulham and scored his first top-flight goal away at Aston Villa later that month.

The midfielder also gained experience in domestic and European competition during a period of significant success at Selhurst Park, while his performances earned him senior international recognition with Northern Ireland.

Devenny’s versatility has allowed him to operate centrally, further forward and on the left side, giving Stoke another flexible midfield option as they reshape their squad.

A move to the Championship also offers him the prospect of more regular first-team football after his position in the Palace squad became less secure following further summer recruitment.

The transfer is complete rather than pending: Stoke and Palace have both announced Devenny’s permanent move, and the midfielder has signed a four-year deal. The fee remains officially undisclosed, with the reported figure of around £5 million coming from external reporting.
