Millwall cruise past Norwich City with 3-0 win at The Den

Millwall made it two wins from two in the Championship with a convincing 3-0 victory over Norwich City at The Den.

Taïryk Arconte was the standout performer for the hosts, scoring twice on his home debut before Luke Cundle completed the victory late on.

Millwall took the lead in the 18th minute after Josh Coburn’s effort was saved by Vladan Kovačević, leaving Arconte with a simple finish from the rebound.

The Lions thought they had doubled their advantage eight minutes later when Jake Cooper headed in from a free-kick, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Norwich had opportunities to respond, with Oscar Schwartau and Andre Brooks both failing to take promising chances, but Millwall remained the more dangerous side.

Arconte struck again in the 58th minute, steering a controlled volley into the bottom corner after Zak Sturge’s delivery was headed into his path by Cooper.

Norwich’s task became even more difficult six minutes later when José Córdoba was shown a second yellow card for bringing down Arconte and was sent off.

Millwall took full advantage of the extra man and sealed the result in the 84th minute. A quick counter-attack involving Daniel Kelly and Camiel Neghli ended with Cundle sliding home the third goal.

The result gives Alex Neil’s side maximum points from their opening two league matches, while Norwich have started the campaign with back-to-back Championship defeats.
