Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal worth up to £120 million for Bradley Barcola, bringing one of their most ambitious pursuits of the summer to the brink of completion.

The agreement represents a major breakthrough after weeks of negotiations in which PSG had resisted Liverpool’s attempts to prise the France international away from Paris. Sky Sports reports that final details are still being discussed, meaning the transfer has not yet been completed and Barcola remains a PSG player.

The structure of the deal is significant. Reports in The Times and The Guardian indicate Liverpool are set to commit more than £100 million up front, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the overall package to around £120 million.

If completed on those terms, Barcola would become the second-most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history, behind only Alexander Isak’s £125 million move. It would also underline the scale of the club’s latest recruitment drive, with Liverpool prepared to make another nine-figure investment to reshape their attack.

Barcola, 23, has been a long-term target rather than a late-window opportunity. Liverpool maintained their interest despite PSG initially placing a substantially higher value on the winger, and the French champions’ negotiating position had appeared strong with two years remaining on his contract.

The landscape shifted as Barcola’s future became increasingly uncertain. L’Équipe reported that the forward had decided against extending his current PSG deal, giving Liverpool greater scope to test whether the French club would soften its position rather than allow the contract to run further down.

An agreement at £120 million would represent that compromise: still an enormous commitment from Liverpool, but below the valuation PSG had previously been seeking.

Barcola would add another high-level option capable of operating from the left or attacking space through central areas, giving Liverpool additional pace and one-against-one threat across their forward line. His arrival would also intensify competition in an attack already reshaped by substantial investment.

The deal is not yet at the stage where Liverpool can present Barcola as their player. Final contractual and transfer details still need to be completed before the move can become official.

But the central obstacle has shifted. After weeks in which PSG’s valuation stood between Liverpool and one of their priority targets, the two clubs now have the framework of a £120 million agreement — leaving completion, rather than price, as the decisive final step.
