Lazio have completed the signing of Josip Šutalo from Ajax on a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent.
The Serie A club confirmed the arrival of the Croatia international on Saturday, with Ajax also announcing that an agreement had been reached for the defender to spend the 2026/27 campaign in Rome.
Šutalo’s loan will run until June 30, 2027, while Lazio have secured an option to buy the centre-back at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old joins Lazio after three seasons with Ajax, where he made 108 first-team appearances following his move from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2023.
Šutalo brings considerable international and European experience to Lazio’s defence and offers an additional ball-playing option at centre-back.
The Croatia international remains under contract with Ajax until June 2028, meaning Lazio will have to exercise their purchase option if they want to retain him beyond the current campaign.
His arrival adds further depth to Lazio’s defensive unit as the club continue to shape their squad for the new Serie A season.
With the agreement now officially completed, Šutalo is available to begin preparations with his new team ahead of Lazio’s upcoming league fixtures.
