Juventus turn back to Guglielmo Vicario as Suzuki move stalls

Juventus have revived their interest in Guglielmo Vicario as the club continues to assess options for its goalkeeping position ahead of the new Serie A season.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Juventus are exploring a move for the Tottenham goalkeeper through an initial loan agreement that could include a route to a permanent transfer.

The renewed focus on Vicario comes as negotiations for Zion Suzuki have slowed, pushing Juventus to reconsider alternative options before the transfer window enters its final stages.

No agreement has been reached with Tottenham, and the structure of any potential deal remains one of the main points to resolve.

Juventus are understood to prefer a formula that would limit the immediate financial commitment, while Tottenham would require stronger guarantees before allowing Vicario to leave.

That difference means the situation remains at the negotiation stage rather than close to completion.

Vicario would offer Juventus a goalkeeper with experience in both Serie A and the Premier League. Before moving to Tottenham, the Italy international established himself in Serie A with Empoli, where his performances helped build his reputation as one of the league’s more reliable goalkeepers.

His familiarity with Italian football would also reduce the adaptation required if Juventus were able to complete a deal.

The club’s interest reflects an ongoing effort to strengthen the position rather than a response to a completed departure. Juventus have considered more than one goalkeeper during the summer and the slowdown in talks for Suzuki appears to have reopened the path toward Vicario.

From Tottenham’s perspective, the financial structure will be decisive. A temporary move without sufficient guarantees would offer less certainty over the player’s long-term future, while Juventus are attempting to preserve flexibility in the market.

For now, Vicario remains a Tottenham player and there is no indication that a medical or final agreement has been scheduled.
