Chelsea have secured the long-term future of João Pedro after the Brazilian forward signed a new contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2034.

The 24-year-old has been rewarded following an outstanding first season in west London, having quickly established himself as one of Chelsea’s most influential attacking players after joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2025.

João Pedro made an immediate impact following his arrival, scoring twice against former club Fluminense in the Club World Cup semi-final before finding the net again in the final against Paris Saint-Germain as Chelsea lifted the trophy.

His influence continued throughout the 2025/26 campaign. The Brazil international finished the season with 20 goals in all competitions and was subsequently voted Chelsea’s Men’s Player of the Season by supporters, receiving more than 60 per cent of the vote.

His previous agreement was due to run until 2033, meaning the new contract extends Chelsea’s control by another year while also reflecting the forward’s increased status within the squad.

João Pedro is expected to remain a central figure under Xabi Alonso, who described the forward as an important personality within the group following confirmation of the new deal.

Chelsea will begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign away to Fulham on Monday, with João Pedro set to enter the new season having now committed his long-term future to the club.
