Ipswich agree deal to sign Zian Flemming from Burnley

Ipswich Town have reached an agreement with Burnley to sign Zian Flemming on a permanent transfer, with the Dutch forward travelling to Suffolk for a deadline-day medical.

Sky Sports reports that the two clubs have agreed a deal for the 28-year-old, moving Ipswich closer to completing their search for a senior centre-forward before the transfer window closes.

The Guardian has put the fee at around £17 million. Neither club has formally announced the transfer and the precise financial structure has not been disclosed, leaving the move subject to Flemming completing his medical and the remaining contractual and registration formalities.

Ipswich accelerated their pursuit after a proposed loan move for Tammy Abraham failed to progress, with the Aston Villa striker remaining at Villa Park. Flemming subsequently emerged as the leading option to strengthen Gary O’Neil’s attack.

The forward is coming off an individually productive Premier League campaign despite Burnley’s relegation. He scored 11 league goals in 2025/26, including the equaliser against Wolves on the final day of the season, and established himself as one of the Clarets’ main attacking threats.

Flemming first moved to Turf Moor from Millwall on loan in August 2024 before the transfer became permanent the following summer. Burnley’s official squad list continued to include him as their No. 19 for the current campaign.

His departure would therefore give Burnley little time to replace a proven goalscorer, while Ipswich would add a forward already familiar with both the Premier League and Championship.

The transfer is advanced rather than complete: Burnley and Ipswich have reportedly reached an agreement, Flemming is heading through the medical process and a fee of around £17 million has been reported, but official confirmation is still awaited.
