Curtis Jones in action for Liverpool

Inter have reached an agreement with Liverpool over a permanent transfer for Curtis Jones, with the midfielder now moving closer to a Serie A switch.

Multiple reports in Italy indicate that the two clubs have agreed the framework of a deal worth around €35 million including bonuses and add-ons. Gianluca Di Marzio has reported a structure of approximately €32 million guaranteed plus up to €4 million in performance-related payments, although some final details are still being completed.

The agreement marks a significant step forward in negotiations that accelerated during the day. Inter had initially been preparing an offer in the region of €30 million, but discussions progressed quickly as the Serie A club pushed to secure the 25-year-old before the final stages of the transfer window.

Jones has entered the final year of his Liverpool contract, which has increased the pressure on the Premier League club to make a decision over his future. Inter have been tracking the England international for some time and had previously explored the possibility of a move during an earlier transfer window.

The midfielder would bring a different profile to Inter’s central options, offering technical security in possession, experience in high-intensity Premier League football and the ability to operate in several roles across midfield.

For Liverpool, the reported agreement would represent a significant sale for an academy graduate who has spent his entire senior career at Anfield. Jones has been part of the first-team structure for several seasons and has accumulated experience in both domestic and European competition.

The transfer is not yet official. Final contractual details still need to be completed and the move will remain subject to the usual medical and registration procedures before either club can announce the deal formally.

At this stage, however, the key breakthrough has been made: Inter and Liverpool are understood to have reached a club-to-club agreement, moving Jones substantially closer to a transfer to San Siro.
