Inter complete Curtis Jones signing as midfielder ends 16-year Liverpool association

Inter have completed the signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool, bringing the midfielder’s 16-year association with his boyhood club to an end and adding another England international to their squad.

The Serie A club confirmed the transfer on Friday, with Jones signing a contract running until June 2031. The deal is reported to be worth around £30 million, including approximately £25.7 million guaranteed and a further £4.3 million in potential add-ons, while Liverpool have also retained a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

The official announcement completes a move that had accelerated rapidly after Inter and Liverpool reached an agreement earlier in the week. Jones subsequently travelled to Italy, completed his medical and finalised personal terms before the transfer was formally confirmed.

For the 25-year-old, the move represents the biggest change of his career. Jones joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of nine and progressed through the club’s youth system before establishing himself in the senior side.

He leaves Anfield having made 228 first-team appearances and scored 22 goals, contributing across one of the most successful periods in Liverpool’s modern history. His honours include two Premier League titles and the Champions League, as well as domestic cup success.

Jones developed into a tactically versatile midfielder capable of operating in several roles, combining secure possession with an ability to progress the ball through pressure. That flexibility should give Inter additional options as they continue reshaping their midfield for the new Serie A campaign.

His arrival also extends a notable recruitment trend at San Siro. Jones becomes the third England international to join Inter this summer after John Stones and Djed Spence, adding further Premier League experience to the Italian club’s squad.

For Liverpool, the transfer brings an end to a relationship stretching back well beyond Jones’ senior debut. With the midfielder entering the final year of his contract, the agreement also allows the club to secure a significant fee rather than risk losing an academy-developed player on substantially reduced terms later.

The move had already reached the agreement stage before Friday, but Inter’s announcement now removes the remaining uncertainty. Jones leaves the only club he has represented in senior football to begin a new chapter in Serie A, with a long-term contract that places him firmly within Inter’s plans.
