Hull City reach verbal agreement for Brooke Norton-Cuffy

Hull City have reached a verbal agreement with Genoa to sign Brooke Norton-Cuffy on a permanent transfer, with the England Under-21 international set to return to English football in a deal worth around €14 million.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the clubs have agreed terms for the 22-year-old right-back, while Hull Daily Mail reports that Norton-Cuffy is expected to travel to England for a medical before completing the move.

Neither Hull nor Genoa have formally announced the transfer, meaning the deal remains subject to the medical and final contractual and registration procedures.

Arsenal are also set to benefit financially. Norton-Cuffy came through the club’s academy before joining Genoa permanently in August 2024, and a sell-on clause was included in that agreement. The precise percentage of Arsenal’s entitlement has not been established by sufficiently reliable reporting, so the value of their return remains unclear.

The deadline-day agreement represents a late change in Norton-Cuffy’s destination. Sky Sport Italia had reported on Monday night that Venezia were in advanced negotiations for the defender at a similar valuation, but that move did not materialise and Hull subsequently moved to secure an agreement with Genoa.

Norton-Cuffy has spent the past two seasons developing in Serie A after leaving Arsenal without making a senior competitive appearance for the north London club. Before moving to Italy, he accumulated substantial EFL experience through loans at Lincoln City, Rotherham United, Coventry City and Millwall.

Genoa originally signed him for a significantly smaller fee in 2024, making the reported €14 million agreement a substantial increase in value.

For Hull, the move would add an athletic right-back with both Serie A and Championship experience to their squad. The transfer is advanced rather than official: a verbal agreement has been reached and a medical is expected, but confirmation from the clubs is still awaited.
