Fiorentina submit €5m loan bid for Joshua Zirkzee as Kean exit looms

Fiorentina have made a formal move for Joshua Zirkzee, submitting a proposal to Manchester United as they look to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes.

According to reporting in Italy, the offer is structured as a season-long loan with a €5 million loan fee and an option to buy. Manchester United and Fiorentina are now in direct contact, but there is no agreement yet and the transfer remains at negotiation stage.

The timing of Fiorentina’s move is significant. Moise Kean’s future remains uncertain, with Como pushing for the Italy international, and Zirkzee is emerging as a potential replacement should Kean leave Florence.

That gives the talks a clear strategic logic. Fiorentina are not simply adding another forward to the squad; they are preparing for the possibility of losing one of their most important attacking players and are attempting to secure a replacement before the market tightens further.

Zirkzee would also represent a stylistic fit. The Dutch forward is comfortable dropping away from the penalty area, linking play and creating space for runners around him, giving Fiorentina a different profile from a more traditional penalty-box striker.

Juventus have also been linked with Zirkzee, but Fiorentina have moved more decisively by placing a concrete proposal on the table. That does not guarantee progress, particularly with United still in control of the player’s future, but it gives the Florence club an early advantage in the race.

For Manchester United, the decision will depend on both the financial structure of the offer and how much flexibility they are willing to give Fiorentina around any future permanent deal.

The situation is therefore more advanced than simple interest, but still short of a transfer agreement. Fiorentina have made their move; the next step is whether United consider the loan structure strong enough to continue toward a deal.
