Everton agree personal terms with Kenny Tete as Fulham talks continue

Everton have agreed personal terms with Kenny Tete as they push to sign the Fulham right-back before the transfer deadline, with the deal now dependent on the two clubs reaching an agreement.

The 30-year-old has given the green light to a move to Merseyside after talks over his contract progressed successfully.

Fulham, however, have not yet sanctioned his departure.

The west London club are simultaneously working on a deal for Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Rațiu, who has emerged as their preferred replacement for Tete.

That negotiation is now central to Everton’s hopes of completing the transfer.

Fulham are in active talks with Rayo and are understood to be pushing to secure Rațiu before allowing Tete to leave, creating a direct link between the two operations in the final days of the window.

For Everton, the attraction is straightforward.

Tete would provide an experienced Premier League option at right-back after the club spent much of the summer assessing alternatives for the position.

The Netherlands international has been with Fulham since 2020 and has accumulated significant top-flight experience during his six seasons at Craven Cottage.

His profile also offers a different solution to some of the younger options Everton have considered during the window.

Reports have placed the potential value of the operation at around £9million, although no club-to-club agreement at that figure has yet been confirmed.

That distinction remains important.

Everton have completed the player-side negotiations, but the transfer cannot progress to medical and final documentation until Fulham are prepared to approve the move.

Fulham’s pursuit of Rațiu therefore acts as the key trigger.

If the Premier League club can finalise an agreement with Rayo Vallecano, Tete’s move to Everton could accelerate quickly. If that deal stalls, Fulham retain greater incentive to delay or block the Dutch defender’s departure.

For now, the most accurate position is clear: Tete has agreed personal terms with Everton, but the transfer remains conditional on negotiations between the clubs and Fulham’s efforts to secure a replacement.
