Everton and Ipswich contact Arsenal over Gabriel Jesus

Everton and Ipswich Town have made contact with Arsenal over Gabriel Jesus as the Brazilian forward considers his options before the transfer window closes.

According to AS, both Premier League clubs have approached Arsenal regarding the 29-year-old, who is seeking greater playing time after falling down the attacking hierarchy in north London. No formal offer or agreement has been reported at this stage.

Jesus was left out of Arsenal’s squad for the Community Shield against Manchester City despite featuring during pre-season, increasing uncertainty over his role ahead of the new campaign.

The Brazil international is understood to favour remaining in the Premier League if he leaves Arsenal. He has spent the past decade in English football with Manchester City and Arsenal and is now three goals short of Roberto Firmino’s record as the highest-scoring Brazilian in Premier League history.

Napoli had previously explored a move for Jesus as part of their search for attacking reinforcements, but those discussions did not lead to an agreement. Interest from Everton and Ipswich therefore presents potential domestic alternatives as Arsenal assess the final shape of their squad.

For both clubs, Jesus would represent a significant addition in terms of Premier League experience. He has competed regularly at the top end of the division, played extensively in European competition and can operate both as a central striker and across the forward line.

His situation could also be influenced by Arsenal’s remaining transfer business. Further changes to Mikel Arteta’s attacking options would potentially affect the amount of first-team football available to Jesus during the season.

At present, however, the situation remains at an exploratory stage. Everton and Ipswich have registered their interest, but neither club is reported to have submitted a formal bid and there is no indication that Jesus has agreed terms with either side.

The final weeks of the window will determine whether those initial contacts develop into concrete negotiations or whether Jesus remains at Arsenal for the new season.
