Everton submit formal offer for Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Muñoz

Everton have stepped up their pursuit of Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Muñoz by submitting a formal proposal, adding a new layer to a late-window battle with Nottingham Forest for the Colombia international.

Colombian journalist Julián Capera reports that Everton have now formalised their offer for Muñoz, with the terms described as similar to those put forward by Forest. The precise value and structure of Everton’s proposal have not been disclosed.

The development moves Everton’s interest beyond the exploratory stage after the Merseyside club had already been linked with Muñoz during their search for a specialist option on the right side of David Moyes’ defence.

Forest, however, have already made a significant move of their own. David Ornstein reported that the club submitted an offer worth up to £22 million — £20 million guaranteed with a further £2 million in potential add-ons — and that Crystal Palace were considering the proposal.

That competition leaves Palace with an increasingly significant decision over the 30-year-old, who has established himself as one of their most influential wide players since arriving from Genk in January 2024.

Muñoz’s attacking output has been a central part of his value at Selhurst Park. Operating primarily as a right wing-back, his ability to advance into the final third, attack the penalty area and contribute directly to goals has made him an unusually productive option from a defensive position.

A move to Nottingham Forest would also reunite him with Oliver Glasner, under whom Muñoz became a key figure at Palace. Glasner is now in charge at the City Ground, giving Forest an obvious connection as they attempt to strengthen their squad.

Everton’s interest carries a different tactical logic. Moyes has lacked an established specialist at right-back, with players better suited to other roles required to cover the position, making the addition of a proven Premier League operator an identifiable squad need.

Palace have already strengthened their options on the right during the summer, giving the club greater flexibility should an acceptable offer arrive for Muñoz.

For now, there is no reported agreement between Palace and either bidder. Everton’s formal entry into the process instead creates a genuine competitive situation, with Forest’s £22 million package already on the table and Palace holding the decisive position over whether Muñoz leaves Selhurst Park before the window closes.
