Crystal Palace are closing in on the loan signing of Axel Disasi after reaching an agreement with Chelsea for the French defender.

Palace have been looking to add further experience at centre-back before the end of the summer transfer window, and Disasi has emerged as their preferred option following talks with Chelsea.

The 28-year-old would bring significant Premier League experience to Pierre Sage’s squad and provide additional depth in a defensive unit that has undergone major changes during the summer.

Sage had already made clear that Palace wanted to recruit a defender with experience at the highest level in England, while acknowledging the speculation surrounding Disasi without discussing the Chelsea player in detail.

A move to Selhurst Park would give Disasi another opportunity to secure regular first-team football after falling out of favour at Chelsea.

Palace have been active in the market ahead of the new Premier League season, but the club are also determined to retain key members of their existing squad.

That stance includes Adam Wharton. Manchester City have shown interest in the England midfielder, but Palace have indicated that they do not intend to sell him this summer.

Sage has also publicly expressed his expectation that Wharton will remain at the club for the 2026/27 campaign.

Disasi’s proposed arrival would therefore represent another step in Palace’s squad rebuild, with the club seeking greater defensive depth while resisting interest in one of their most valuable midfielders.
