Barcelona confirm Jesse Bisiwu suffered only a contusion after injury scare
Barcelona have confirmed that Jesse Bisiwu suffered only a contusion after being forced off on a stretcher for Barça Atlètic, with the winger expected to return to training in the short term.

Barcelona have received positive news on Jesse Bisiwu after medical tests ruled out a serious injury for the teenage winger.
Bisiwu was forced off on a stretcher during Barça Atlètic’s Copa Catalunya final against CE Sabadell on Wednesday after being caught by a heavy challenge early in the match. The sight of the 18-year-old requiring assistance and later using a protective boot raised concerns over a potentially significant injury.
Those fears have now eased.
Barcelona confirmed on Thursday that examinations carried out in the morning showed Bisiwu had suffered only a contusion. The club did not provide an exact return date but said he is expected to resume training in a short period of time.
The update represents a significant relief for both Bisiwu and Barcelona after the initial concern surrounding the incident. Barça Atlètic coach Juliano Belletti had addressed the injury following the 2-1 defeat to Sabadell, while also expressing frustration over the challenge that forced the winger out of the game.
Bisiwu joined Barcelona from Club Brugge during the summer and has already been integrated into the wider first-team set-up. The Belgian youngster has been assigned the No. 27 shirt for the 2026/27 season and is listed by the club among the development players working in and around Hansi Flick’s senior squad.
His recovery will now be monitored over the coming days, but Barcelona’s medical assessment means the club are not currently dealing with the long-term absence that had initially been feared following Wednesday’s incident.
For Bisiwu, the focus shifts from determining the severity of the injury to completing a short recovery before returning to training.
