Aston Villa explore move for free agent Leon Goretzka
Aston Villa are exploring a move for former Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, who is available on a free transfer after leaving the Bundesliga champions.

Aston Villa are exploring a move for Leon Goretzka as Unai Emery looks to add further experience and depth to his midfield.
The 31-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Bayern Munich following eight seasons with the Bundesliga champions.
According to talkSPORT, Villa have identified Goretzka as a possible option as they continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
The Germany international would bring considerable experience at both domestic and European level. He made more than 300 Bundesliga appearances during his time in Germany and was a key part of a Bayern side that dominated the domestic game for much of his spell in Munich.
Villa’s interest comes during a summer of major changes in midfield. Youri Tielemans has left the club, while Amadou Onana is facing a lengthy absence after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The club have already invested heavily in the position, adding Johan Manzambi from Freiburg and João Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Goretzka would provide a different profile through his physical presence, experience and ability to contribute in both penalty areas.
No agreement has been reached at this stage and Villa are understood to be assessing the conditions of a potential deal rather than being in advanced negotiations.
Goretzka’s free-agent status means the transfer would not require a fee, although personal terms would still need to be agreed before any move to Villa Park could be completed.
