AC Milan agree Omari Hutchinson loan deal with Nottingham Forest

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Omari Hutchinson on loan with an option to buy, with the England Under-21 international travelling to Italy to undergo a medical.

The deal has moved rapidly in the final days of the transfer window, with Milan turning to Hutchinson as they reshape their attacking options following Rafael Leão’s departure to Galatasaray.

According to reports in Italy and England, the clubs have reached a verbal agreement on a season-long loan. Milan will cover Hutchinson’s salary during the loan period and will hold an option to make the move permanent.

The transfer is not yet official.

Hutchinson must still complete his medical and final contractual formalities before Milan can announce the signing, meaning the correct status remains an agreed deal rather than a completed transfer.

The 22-year-old joined Nottingham Forest from Ipswich Town in 2025 and has continued to build his reputation as a direct, technically strong wide attacker capable of operating on either flank.

His profile fits Milan’s immediate requirement.

Leão’s exit has removed the player who had provided the club’s most consistent source of acceleration and one-against-one threat on the left, creating a clear need for another attacker comfortable receiving the ball wide and driving at defenders.

Hutchinson would not represent a like-for-like replacement in terms of experience or status, but his age and versatility give Milan a player with room to develop inside a new attacking structure.

The financial structure also limits the club’s immediate risk.

A loan with an option to buy gives Milan the opportunity to assess Hutchinson over the course of the season before committing to a permanent transfer, while still adding depth quickly before the window closes.

For Nottingham Forest, the move would temporarily reduce the depth of Oliver Glasner’s attacking options, but the club have remained active in the market and have already made several additions during a busy final phase of the window.

For Milan, the remaining steps are now procedural.

If Hutchinson passes his medical and final documents are completed without issue, the Rossoneri will add one of their primary late-window attacking reinforcements as they continue to rebuild after Leão’s departure.
