AC Milan complete permanent signing of Diego Moreira from Strasbourg

AC Milan have completed the permanent signing of Belgium international Diego Moreira from Strasbourg, adding the 22-year-old winger to their squad on a long-term deal.

Moreira has signed a contract running until June 2031 and will wear the No.22 shirt. Milan have not disclosed the transfer fee, although Sky Sport Italia reports that the agreement is worth €45 million guaranteed plus up to €20 million in bonuses.

The move represents a significant investment in a player who has developed rapidly over the past two seasons. Moreira joined Strasbourg permanently from Chelsea in 2024 and established himself as an important attacking option in Ligue 1, combining pace, direct running and the ability to operate on either flank.

He recorded four goals and six assists in the league last season, performances that strengthened his reputation and attracted interest from several clubs before Milan moved to complete the deal.

Moreira’s versatility should give Milan additional flexibility across the attacking line. While naturally comfortable in wide areas, he can play on both sides and offers a profile built around acceleration, one-on-one ability and carrying the ball into advanced positions.

The transfer also continues Milan’s effort to refresh the squad with younger players capable of contributing immediately while retaining significant development potential. At 22, Moreira arrives with experience in both Ligue 1 and the Belgian national-team setup but still has considerable room to progress.

His career has already taken him through several major European environments. After developing in Benfica’s academy, Moreira moved to Chelsea before leaving England for Strasbourg in search of more consistent senior football.

That decision proved important in his development, and his performances in France have now earned him a move to one of Serie A’s biggest clubs.

With his medical completed and the contract formally signed, Moreira is now officially a Milan player and will join the first-team group ahead of the start of the new Serie A campaign.
